Henderson Police Launch Homicide Investigation After Body Found

Henderson, Nev. – The Henderson Police Department is investigating a dead body that was found yesterday in the desert near Wigwam Parkway and Traverse Point.

On September 12, at approximately 1:45 p.m., Henderson Police and Fire responded to the desert area west of the 1200 block of Wigwam Parkway in reference to calls of a body that had been dumped from a black SUV.

Upon arrival by officers and medical personnel, a deceased adult male was located.

Preliminary investigation indicates that the victim may have suffered from what appeared to be a fatal gunshot wound to the chest area and the incident is being investigated as a homicide.

Through active investigation and follow up, detectives identified a black SUV associated with the incident at an address located on the 1000 block of Fish Pond Avenue in Henderson. Additional investigation revealed that the shooting may have been drug related and a suspect was identified.

On the evening of September 12, Henderson Detectives served a search warrant at a residence located on the 1000 block of Fish Pond Avenue and arrested 38-year-old, Ryan Small for Murder with a Deadly Weapon.

Small was booked into the Henderson Detention Center and his booking photo is attached.

The identity of the victim, as well as the cause and manner of death, will be released by the Clark County Coroner’s Office.

This is being investigated as the eighth homicide in Henderson for 2018.
