Henderson Police Investigate Fatal Vehicle Crash

Henderson, Nev. – Henderson Police are investigating a traffic collision that occurred last night resulting in the death of a motorist. 

On Thursday, August 23, at approximately 5:40 p.m., Henderson Police and Fire responded to Wigwam Parkway and Pecos Road after calls of a rollover traffic collision involving a Mazda Protégé and a Toyota Highlander. 

Initial investigation revealed that a 2005 Toyota Highlander and the 2001 Mazda Protégé were both traveling northbound on Pecos Road from Wigwam Parkway when both vehicles came in contact with each other. The Mazda lost control, rolled and struck a light pole in the center median where it came to rest on its roof. 

The driver of the Mazda was pronounced at the accident scene and the occupants of the Toyota did not sustain any reported injuries.

The identity of the deceased will be released by the Clark County Coroners Office after next of kin has been notified.

Speed and alcohol are not currently considered factors in the crash.

The roadway was closed for about three and a half hours while fatal accident investigators conducted their investigation.

The crash is being investigated as the eighth traffic related fatality this year.
