Henderson, Nev. – Mayor Debra March and the Henderson City Council will present the first Mayor’s Honor Roll recognition to Coral Academy of Science student Krisha Panchal and Coral Academy of Science teacher Aaron Shiver tonight at 6 p.m. at the city council meeting.

“We are pleased to present the very first Mayor’s Honor Roll awards to two people that have demonstrated exemplary volunteerism and leadership in the classroom,” said Mayor March who called for the creation of the award and unveiled it earlier this year at her annual State of the City address. “Through the Mayor’s Honor Roll we are able to recognize outstanding individuals from our local schools that are doing their part to create a great learning environment which improves educational opportunities for all of our students.”

Krisha Panchal is a fourth grade student of Mrs. Lehman, a language arts teacher at the Coral Academy of Science Windmill Campus. Aaron Shiver is the fourth grade robotics teacher at the Coral Academy of Science Windmill Campus and coaches the school’s robotics team. Under his tutelage, the team recently placed second out of 29 teams at the first round of the First Lego League Challenge and advanced to the regional competition.

The Mayor’s Honor Roll is designed to recognize Henderson students, teachers, administrators or support staff who demonstrate achievement in categories such as leadership, respect and integrity, innovation, volunteerism and love of learning. Mayor’s Honor Roll recipients will be honored at city council meetings for their achievements with a medal and a certificate of recognition.
