City of Henderson Named Among Best Workplaces for Commuters

April 24, 2018

Henderson, Nev. – The City of Henderson has been named one of the Best Workplaces for Commuters for offering employee commuter benefits that meet national standard of excellence criteria. Criteria are set by the Best Workplaces for Commuters program, which is managed by the Center for Urban Transportation Research at the University of South Florida.

The City of Henderson has been recognized as a best workplace for commuters since 2013.

“Participation in and recognition through the Best Workplaces for Commuters program reinforces the importance of our employees and of our environmental stewardship,” said Interim City Manager Richard A. Derrick. “This program, when combined with our bike-friendly work environment, provides employees with a variety of alternative transportation options that make sense.”

The city is among only 225 workplaces nationwide that have committed to employee commuter benefits that result in an estimated 14 percent of employees choosing an alternative commute mode within a 12-month period. The city offers several commuter benefits, including a compressed work week, carpool matching program, emergency ride home program, and preferred parking.

“The City of Henderson is on the cutting edge of a national movement,” said Julie Bond, program manager, Best Workplaces for Commuters. “They have listened to their employees’ challenges with traffic congestion and concerns over reducing emissions.”
