Henderson, Nev. – More than 90 children, standing on tiptoes with wide smiles, cheered as Santa Claus arrived by Henderson Police motorcade escort to the Target on Lake Mead Parkway early December 2nd.

Santa along with more than 80 Police and Corrections Officers, Police Department Volunteers and support staff handed out $150 gift cards from the Henderson Police Officers’ Association Charitable Foundation to the children. The officers and staff then paired up with these children to assist them in shopping to help make sure they had presents during the holiday season.

“I am heartened by this outpouring of charitable giving by my officers, especially to the children in need,” Henderson Police Chief LaTesha Watson said. “It was a great opportunity to see the bond between our Department and the citizens we serve.”

“We love making this community connection each year during the holidays. Our officers want to make a positive and lasting impression with these children. ‘Shop with a Cop’ is our way to give back to the community we serve, and to make sure these kids have a holiday they will always remember,” said Officer Kenneth Kerby, HPOA president.

The “Shop with a Cop” program is organized each year by the Henderson Police Officers Association’s Charitable Foundation. This Association is comprised of line officers, and is a 501(c) 3 charity.
