Henderson, Nev. – Ghost Hunting 101, a beginner’s how-to workshop and recreational paranormal investigation, takes place from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 27 at Downtown Recreation Center, 105 W. Basic Rd. Participation is $20 per person and is open to ages 12 and up. Register online at cityofhenderson.com (activity code 194246-53) or at any recreation center or indoor pool.
The workshop explores a variety of topics, including the basics of paranormal investigating, research basics, safety protocols, different spiritual hauntings, how to decipher false positives, and the various types of equipment used. Participants will be ready to use equipment to record evidence and their experiences.
“The Downtown Recreation Center sits on the site of the city’s former Youth Center, which served the community from 1956 until it was demolished in 1997. That building experienced a lot of history and change over 40 years as our community grew,” said David Castle, Aquatics supervisor and workshop facilitator. “The Downtown Recreation Center opened in 2003 and staff members over the years have reported experiencing interesting and unexplained activity here. It will be a fascinating location to investigate.”
Materials and light snacks are provided. Participants may bring their own digital cameras, equipment and dowsing rods to enhance the experience. The workshop is not a Halloween fun house attraction. Instead, facilitators and participants will be looking for authentic experiences.
