Henderson, Nev. – Doggie Paddle & Play Day, the City of Henderson’s annual canine swim event, has expanded to two days this year to accommodate more pets and their owners. The event takes place from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 23 and Sunday, Sept. 24, at Black Mountain Aquatic Complex, 599 Greenway Rd. Registration is $10 per dog per date in advance, or $15 at the door. Human friends attend for free but may not enter the water. Register in advance at cityofhenderson.com (activity code 436263) or at any recreation center or indoor pool. Each registered participant will receive a commemorative Frisbee while supplies last.
Dogs are assigned swim times based on weight. Dogs weighing 40 lbs. or less swim 8 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. on Saturday and 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Sunday; dogs weighing 41 to 89 lbs. swim 9:45 a.m. to 11:15 a.m. both days; and dogs weighing 90 lbs. and over swim 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday and 8 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. on Sunday.
Black Mountain Aquatic Complex has a zero-depth entry so dogs may enter and exit the water at will. All dogs must be checked in and owners must provide proof of vaccination and pet licensing from the city in which the owner resides.
Following the event, the pool will be drained, cleaned and readied for winter. For additional information, including complete event rules and guidelines, call 702-267-2980 or 702-267-2991, or visit cityofhenderson.com. Find us on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
